Subject-Wise Strategy
Quantitative Aptitude
High-scoring topics: Number System, Percentage, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Work, Ratio & Proportion, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Mensuration. For Tier 2, DI (Data Interpretation) becomes more important. Solve at least 30–40 questions daily and use shortcuts for speed.
General Intelligence & Reasoning
SSC Reasoning is moderate in difficulty. Focus on Analogies, Series (Number & Alphabet), Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Directions, Syllogism, Matrix, and Non-verbal Reasoning. Consistent daily practice of 1–2 hours will make this section your highest scorer.
English Language
Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Fill in the Blanks, Error Detection, and Idioms & Phrases are frequently tested. Vocabulary is critical for SSC — learn 10–15 new words daily from Norman Lewis's Word Power Made Easy. Tier 2 also includes essay and letter writing.
General Awareness
This is the most scoring section if prepared well. Cover Static GK (History, Geography, Polity, Economy), Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), and Current Affairs (last 6 months). Use Lucent's GK book and monthly current affairs PDFs from coaching institutes.
